I am a huge Purex fan for MANY reasons. My favorite Purex highlight is the fact that you can use all of their product in ANY style washing machine with optimal performance. From Old to New and Regular to Green they have it all covered. I recently sampled a bottle of their new Triple Action Purex detergent. It is available in scent and dye free/fragrance free.

My Job: To clean three WHITE stuffed snowmen that were delicate. These poor buddies had a bit of a run in with Emma, Cheese Pizza and hot chocolate. Their "cuddle date" turned into peril. I really thought they were goners, but a spin in the delicate cycle with this new Purex product restored them to their winter white glory.

A Review- "My Grocery List" A Fun Learning Game!

I am always looking for new games to purchase. We enjoy family game nights at home and I use all of our games at work. When I was offered the chance to review this fun game, called "My Grocery List" by Marina Games I was excited. The Mommy and The Speech Therapist in me saw the potential this game could have for both fun at home and fun at work. The product did not disappoint.

The Game Materials are high quality and are much better than materials used by most of the big industry leaders. Marina Games has built this game to last! The game arrives in a sturdy and colorful cardboard box. Inside you will find 5 Shopping List Cards, 5 Shopping Basket Cards and 30 Grocery Item Cards. Each Player chooses a basket and list. The 30 cards are shuffled and spread face down on the table to create a hide and seek game. Players take turns to see if they can find an item on their list to add to their basket. The first player to collect all 6 items on their list is the winner. That is the easy way to play.

Other Ideas:

Place the baskets out on the table and work as a team to sort the groceries into categories. (Meat Veggies , Fruit, Treats Etc.)
Use The Grocery Item cards to play a description game. Each player selects a card and describes the item to other players. The first person to "Name That Food" adds the item to their basket. The person who gets the most wins.

Other Ways I Used The Game

If you work with head injured or stroke patients this game is a must have! It is study. The game has just enough amount of print on the cards. The grocery lists are great for targeting recall, attention, and naming skills. It is not too juvenile in appearance to turn adults off. I have found that playing this game and using the game kit materials aids in recall, memory and it stirs up great conversation.

I give this game 5/5 stars! Marina Games offers many new games that are fun across the lifespan. Thank you Marina Games for sending me "My Grocery List" to review and keep. It will be put to good use!

Some Ideas on Taking The Perfect Family Photo Yourself:
* Think about the backdrop. You will never be able to take "the perfect" family photo with "uncle Jim" dancing in the background (same goes for the rented port-a-let or the pork cooker at the family reunion). Think of natural and neutral. Trees, Tall Grass, or carefully chosen buildings make great backdrops for perfect pictures.
* Think about coordinating outfits. I'm not advocating for everyone to wear their favorite luau wear from this years Hawaii vacation, but everyone in the same color palate screams "We tried to look our best".

Introducing Xia-Xia

What Did The Kids Think?

They all loved the packaging!
Emma played with one for three hours Friday night and brought Crabbie to bed with her. She played for two hours on Saturday Morning and partied with her friends for almost 3 hours. She took her crab and the playscapes with to share on another playdate.
Her crab has survived! And she keeps telling me how beautiful Crabbie is.
All of the kids were easily entertained for hours at our Xia-Xia playdate. No one pouted, tattled, or had a melt down. Everyone was tired and slept well (most with their new Xia-Xia pal!)

What Did The Moms Think About Xia-Xia?

We all loved the fact that we could relax, chit-chat, and enjoy the play date. The toys did the entertaining! Three Cheers for Xia-Xia!!
We all loved the boutique/handbag packaging! Very cool!
They are just adorable and we all agree just looking at them made us smile.

Our only complaint is that a few of them needed minor surgery (large front claw popped off of two of them a time or two). They did snap back together fairly easily and all of them continue to tolerate lots of play time.
The Play Sets have been very durable and they are easy to assemble.
Baby Claire was entertained watching the big kids play with their crabs, extra shells and tiny creatures!

How Will You Display Your Holiday Cards?
I am going to try something new this year. I am attaching strings of beaded garland (looks like Christmas tree lights) to the door of my coat closet. I plan on attaching cards to the garland with festive mini clothes pins that I found in the $1 bins at Michael's. I have hope that it will turn out well and that the cards will stay where I put them. If not I am not afraid to break out the duct tape. Do you think it will work? Any tips to making this project a success from the get go?

Well the whole Price Chopper fiasco- aka- no more double coupons- put a crimp in my couponing. It's taken lots of tangible reinforcement to motivate me to shop at Walmart (ack). In the process of learning a whole new system of shopping I found Hannaford again. I know it sounds like a religious conversion, but I really found a whole new Zen like shopping experience there. When I first started blogging I was known as the NYChopperShopper, but as things grew and traffic increased I worried about getting a nice cease and desist letter for copyright infringement. Thus The Cadyville Coupon Clipper was born.

Price Chopper is a beautiful store to shop in and over the past two years I have been able to donate almost $10000 worth of goods purchased at Price Chopper to friends, relatives, neighbors, and community agencies. Did I pay that much out of pocket- oh no! I used my brain power and the purchase power of coupon take advantage of sales and promotions offered by Price Chopper. I have gladly offered FREE community workshops on how to maximize use of coupons and store promotions.

Between now and 7/10 I will continue to share deals Price Chopper, but then they will be demoted. They are making a move that will impact every coupon clipper in VT, NH, and Norther NY. Price Chopper has defended their double coupon policies in these territories by saying they are needed in rural, isolated areas"in the past. Now they no loner feel that our demographic is anything special. I will stockpile until midnight on 7/9, but after that I will start to focus on Hannaford, Walmart, and Grand Union. Summer Roadtrips & Twizzlers

My mother loves Twizzlers and I can recall many fine family trips to Fort William Henry in Lake George NY that involved lots of Twizzlers and Miracle Whip. I have lots of fond memories of family trips to Lake George, but these days its more of a shopping adventure than a family vacation destination (that we enjoy). Last summer we trekked to Old Forge NY and honestly it was exceptional bang for the buck. It's on the to do list for this summer.

My Blog, My Birthday, My BFF

I feel like Frederica on Blues Clues/Elmo- the one who yells "It's my birthday." I had high hopes of collecting my free birthday sub at Jreks, but there is about a snowballs chance in Hell at this point. I don't exactly know when I started to really dislike my birthday, but I think it was somewhere in our infertility journey. Something about mother's day and my birthday so close together made for a fairly traumatic week. Add my forgetful husband into the mix and I think the day has become a self fulfilling prophecy so to speak. I have visions of the Extreme Couponing episode with the crazy twins (the pair that had the gazillion packs of diapers) raking in the free birthday loot. I want the birthday freebies, but instead I am very content to be awake and putting up enough fuss to keep nurses hopping in the same spot I took my first breath in. This year Randy gave me a wonderful gift and I think this is a new chapter in the "embrace your birthday" saga. He has been working towards the goal of weight loss surgery for about a year and 5/10 was the day of the big event. In true Coty fashion (at least the Cadyville Coty's) there were of course complications. Do you expect anything else? 12 hours ago he was awake and can recall in vivid detail being on and off of the ventilator. The goal of all of this was to extend his expiration date and with that decision we could have very well met a very different outcome yesterday/today. My father always said I would have made a fantastic Dictator. After today I agree. If you hear some commotion today it will just be heads rolling here at Adirondack Medical Center. So this morning I am dispensing advice and thanking God for the blessings we have. The greatest gift you could give me this year is to pay it forward and live today to the fullest.

Do not take one second for granted- blink of an eye and the decks are totally stacked in the opposite direction.
Thank your support staff. Administration (doctors) deserve lots of credit, but the Support Staff (Nurses, Respiratory Therapists, etc.) are the ones who are going to kill you quickly. We can train monkeys to fly aircraft, but LPN, RN, SLP, OT, PT, RD, RT, MD and DO after a person's name do not equate to competence or experience. I know my attitude sucks, but I have just witnessed the best patient care and the worst in the span of half a day.
Advocate for someone! Try to make an hour better for someone who really needs it.
Be a squeaky wheel- we're the only ones who get the grease!

Thank you for all of the prayers sent our way today. Please keep sending them. At this point I am itching for discharge as soon as possible. To anyone who knows my "mineral oil is a super mouth care option" story- this saga totally tops that one. I have tried to keep everyone in the loop but there are never enough waking hours to call everyone. Enjoy the sun. I am fully expecting my short term memory to max out at any moment- the post it note pile is growing rapidly.

To the love of my life - forever mine- that's all I need to know! (Cue the Cheesy Kenny Chesney song!). I will never, ever moan and groan about hating my birthday again!!!

I know it is April. Tax day is almost here and like it or not, Christmas is coming! I start planning and shopping on 12/26. Last year I was VERY creative after having unexpected surgery with a crazy long recovery time (thus a long time without a paycheck). I was really thankful for the things I bought ahead. Today I am going to share some of my favorite strategies for earning free gift cards and scoring fantastic deals to build your holiday stock pile.

1. Swag Bucks (CLICK HERE to join- I will get referral credit).
If you are surfing the Internet then you need to start earning reward credits. Swagbucks offers a Google powered search engine. They also offer reward points for online shopping. Like just about everything they collect consumer data. They randomly add reward points to you account for using their toolbar. Rewards for online shopping are fixed and retailer specific. On Friday they up the ante and offer Mega rewards. You can use the points to acquire all kinds of merchandise and gift cards. The best use of points (in my humble opinion) would be using them to acquire $5 Amazon Gift Cards. Making the most out of Amazon gift cards leads me to #2.

2. Amazon Prime, Amazon Mom, Amazon Student
Amazon has fantastic deals on just about everything, but I always hated the shipping fees and often wanted to place small orders that would not earn free shipping. That all changed when I bought Amazon Prime 3 years ago. Amazon Mom and Amazon Student are FREE! Amazon Prime is $79.99, but you get to invite 4 "relatives" to join your plan. What will that get you? Free 2nd day shipping on all Amazon Prime tagged items (90% of what is sold on Amazon). Use your swagbucks to score hot clearance deals and save a ton with Amazon Prime. If you see an $80 toy on clearance for $5 you can save a bundle and not have to worry about shipping fees.

I will admit that I am excited to watch TLC's Extreme Couponing tonight. I love that the show opens people's eyes to the possibilities. I am sad that the show participants will likely come across as a bit mentally unstable. I still cringe when I think about "Mr Coupon" from the first episode. I am a die hard Krazy Coupon Lady fan, but every time I think of Joanie I think of dumpster diving with children. Tonight's show will certainly create buzz about coupon users. ONYOs are based on a national offer or manufacturer promotion and are extra savings earned.

How Can I deliberately Earn OYNOs?

Follow rules of the promo (this week "buy" or take home $20 worth of participating products) and the OYNO will spit out of the coupon printer at the end of your transaction.

How do I spend LESS OOP (Out of Pocket) to get the OYNO?

Pair the participating products with store and manufacturer coupons

I have blogged about Quibids before, but as more and more of my friends win big the praise I sing sets louder clearer, and much more animated! If you know me, you know I like to cook and bake. My mom is still using my great grandmother's 1950s model, so I know they are likely worth the investment. I have been watching them sell on Quibids for 5 cents to $60 and debating on jumping into an auction to try for a win. Tuesday night there were tons of high ticket auctions in the final push for hours and in the midst I spotted a Kitchenaid going for 5 cents, with 2 bidders. After placing 3 bids (worth a whopping $1.80) I won the black and stainless steele beauty for 11 cents (Yes ELEVEN Cents), no tax, and $6.49 in shipping. Fed-Ex is set to deliver my prize on Friday. A few weeks ago I tried my hand at penny auctions. I started with Bidrack because they give away free bids right and left. They are slow as snails with shipping and customer service is interesting. They are improving, but Quibids is the place to try this fun new concept.

How Does It Work?

First you buy a bidpack. $27 for 45 Bids
There are many online coupon codes that will give you 3-5 bonus bids for signing up and buying a "Bid Pack"
Watch auctions, place bids, win
It really is entertaining and there are GREAT DEALS to be had if you have some self restraint and reasonable goals.
Each bid raises the "price" of the item by a penny. Each bid essentially costs 60 cents to place, win or lose you lose the bids you use in the auction.
You can win 12 auctions in a month.
Auction end times are NOT like ebay. It is like live auction- during the last 20 seconds of the auction the clock resents to allow for a "going once, going twice gone" effect.

Best Bang For The Buck

I am 2 weeks into participating in this site and have won a heap of stuff for minimal out of pocket costs.
My goal is to win Gift Cards: To Date ($15 Walmart with 10 Bid Credit Certificate for 1 penny plus Shipping= $2.00 oop and only used 1 of my original bids) ($100 in Lowes Cards for $8.00 OOP and 11 bids, I earned back another 50 bids with all of them) ($10 Target Gift Card for 2 cents= $2.02 OOP), Case of Golf Balls (1 cent plus $8 S&H, used 1 bid, retail value $60 and S&H from company is usually $14.99), Stainless Steel Kitchen Garbage Can with 20 bid voucher for 3cents, used only 1 bid to win ($75 value for $5.98 OOP). Children's High End V-Tech Computer Toy and 20 bids for 2 cents adn $7 S&H)
One friend joined using my link and I earned 25 more bids. For a $27 investment we are reaping lots of rewards.

Gift Card Greatness:

When you participate in auctions and lose there is a pot of gold at the end of the losing rainbow.
One day I went a bit nuts trying to win a $25 lowes card. I ended up placing 16 bids and not winning.
They offer a BUY IT NOW @ Full price offer to bidders that lose at the end of auctions.
I was able to purchase a the gift card at face value- $25 minus $9.60 credit from bids I used trying to win.
I did not lose because I still got the gift card. It wasn't a "deal" but there was no loser either.

How Can They Do This and Profit?

I only wish I had dreamed this up and owned the business.
They earn 60 cents for each bid purchased- for example They frequently auction Dyson Vacuums Cleaners that retail for $500 for around $50-$75. If it sells for $50 they raked in $3000 from the bids used during the auction and rake in another $50 from the winner.
Last week they sold a Honda Civic for $1800 ish they collected 60c for each of the 180,000 bids placed ($108.000 collected just from bids used) and collected the $1800 from the winner.
It is easy to see how they can keep these great deals going with such high profit margins.
Set reasonable expectations and shop during nonpeak hours to rake in legendary deals.
I am now saving my cheap Lowe's Gift Cards for home improvement projects.

How Reliable is Quibids?

I am so impressed with order processing, timely email updates and lightening fast deliveries.
So far every Lowe's Gift Card I have won has arrived in my email inbox withing 4 hours of paying for the card I won. I have redeemed a pile of them (They were an honest blessing when our sump pump and basement dewatering system was a giant fail last friday and left us in 3 inches of water).
Every other gift card has arrived in my physical mailbox within 72 hours.
I won the V-Tech Kids Laptop (the one I paid 3 pennies plus shipping for) Sunday night at 930 pm. It arrived Tuesday before 10am.
My neighbors sister won a Kindle e-reader for about $40, their supplier could not ship within 48 hours. Guess what they did? They sent her a $200 Amazon gift card. She got her Kindle and a pile of Christmas gifts and everyone was VERY HAPPY!
Their BBB scores and customer reviews are excellent.

If you throw yourself into trying to win a Dyson or Ipad for $50-$75 you can quickly blow through your bids and be left empty handed, but if you focus on winning giftcards to buy the things you are itching to get your hands on for pennies on the dollar you will win every time. There is no lose in paying full price for a gift card. 90% of the time I have saved 90% or more on the gift cards I win. If I have to pay full price for one here or there then I am still way ahead.

SC Johnson and Bzz Agent recently sent me a spring cleaning kit for review.

There were many great products in the package. I LOVE their new Shower Power Scrubbing Bubbles Cleaner. Spray the shower once every 4 days and voila- no soap or water spots.

I also love the Lemon Pledge spray. I hate to dust but this made the task a bit easier to bear. The smell of sprint was in the air.

The array of Glade Spray and Candles were nice but a bit to fragrant for me, but my co-workers loved them.

I have a pile of coupons to share on a variety of SC Johnson cleaning products- let me know if you want a heap!

I am counting the days until May 5th. The event is coming together nicely and I should have the final plans made before next weekend. I wish I could invite the entire Champlain Valley, but that is just not possible- maybe next year. I think 50 Moms will be my cap for this year. Perkins Restaurant is the place to be on Monday, March 21st for FREE Pancake Day. Participating Perkins restaurants will give away free made-from-scratch buttermilk pancakes to guests dining in the restaurant on that day.
